Skiing:
Auli is considered one of the best skiing destinations in the world. The slopes
are covered with snow from January to March, and the 3 km stretch with a
500 m drop is considered ideal for skiing. The Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam
offers skiing courses for beginners and experts from December to March.
Natural beauty:
Auli is surrounded by snow-capped Himalayan peaks, including Nanda Devi,
Kamet, and Dunagiri. The valley is also home to thick coniferous forests and
steep oak-lined hills. Between June and October, the valley has 520 species
of high-altitude plants, including many endangered species.
Religious significance:
Auli is home several religious sites, including the Hanuman Temple in
Joshimath, which is a holy place. Some believe that the Hindu saint Guru Adi
Shankaracharya visited Auli in the 8th century AD.
